WorkSafeBC OFA Level 1 Instructor Training
This 2-day course builds upon the foundational adult education training that all participants must have prior to attending.
Upon completion students must demonstrate competence instructing an OFA Level 1 course while being monitored by an experienced instructor. This can be completed with any WorkSafeBC Training Agency, meaning candidates can choose to complete this final step with Heartsafe EMS, or any other agency of their choice.
To attend this training, participants must:
- Have completed either a Canadian Red Cross ‘Fundamentals of Instruction’ course, OR
- Have completed an ISW network course
Haven’t completed ‘Fundamentals of Instruction’ or an ‘ISW’ workshop? Click here to see upcoming offerings, as we often schedule these in the days prior.
As well, candidate instructors must:
- Be at least 18 years of age prior to instructor training
- Hold a current/valid Standard First Aid Certificate or higher for a minimum of 1 year
- Have successfully participated (i.e. earned certification) in a complete OFA Level 1 or OFA Level 1 Equivalent course prior to initial instructor training
- Have been employed as a designated OFA Attendant or first aid responder (at a Standard First Aid level or higher) for at least one year
